What happened in the accident?

A fire broke out at the home of Amster Kamal, a resident of Chestermere, at 2:30 am. last Friday. Amjad Kamal and his brother Asad Kamal and their family were sleeping at the time. Asad Kamal was associated with the IT department.

After the fire broke out, Amjad Kamal managed to leave the house with his four children, but his brother Asad Kamal, his wife Rafia Kamal and Amjad's wife Batool Rashid were killed in the accident. The four murdered children are between the ages of five and 12.

Amjad Kamal and his family moved to Chestermere from the eastern Canadian province of Ontario in May of that year, while his brother Asad Kamal and his family had long lived in Calgary.

The town of Chestermere is located approximately 20km east of Calgary.

A close relative of the family said in a statement that the incident shocked the entire local community.

Emad Ali Syed, a close friend of the family, said the community should show patience and wait for the investigation to complete.

Aziz Saqib Khan, a close relative of the killed woman, Batool Rashid, said his family was deeply shocked by the incident.

Batol was a very good, intelligent and very helpful woman. She has raised five children very well. Unfortunately, three of her children died in the accident, while her fourth son killed was Asad Kamal.

Ghulam Mustafa, a member of the Pakistan Canada Association, a local community organization in Pakistan, expressed deep regret at the incident.

He told the News Agency that the whole community was with the family and was ready to help in any way they could.

The Calgary Muslim Council Help Center has also requested an online fundraiser for the family, which has raised $55,000 so far.
